During the Cold War the Soviet Union experienced with a variety of ways to silence their unruly citizens and political dissidents. In this volume, the detailed analysis of why the Soviets decided the best way to silence an opposition is not by incarceration where they may still have a voice and in some cases causes their followers to become even stronger; instead it was studied that classifying the individual by a state psychiatrist as an extreme case of mental derrangement such as schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder lead to a much stronger case of silencing the individuals and their followers and the followers lost trust in the subjects ability to reason clearly.
